Maverick

When most people think about a newborn session, whats the first things that come to mind? Props, poses and funny little hats? Don't get me wrong, I do love those.. but I feel like these moments are more than just the current trend of cool baskets or the newest backgrounds.

I think a newborn session is a chance to stop time, giving us the ability to remember those hands, toes, smile and that wittle bitty nose. The sweet snuggles with mom as she soaks in that new baby smell and daddy still get used to holding such a tiny creature.. That's what I want to capture, the time.

I was ever so fortunate to be their wedding photographer back in 2014 and to witness their c-section just a few weeks ago (see it here) so I am already lucky enough to call these great people friends but when Trin told me that 'some family' stopped by to see big dude .. 'some' was more like the entire bloodline, haha, but I love that though, I LOVE how in LOVE this family is with Maverick & he doesn't even have a clue that he is probably one of the most adored children out there. When I pulled up I was not only greeted by the CUTEST freaking pink victorian house in Panama City, but the most adorable and doting family in the world (all of them)!

Of course the NEW grandparents were definitely in attendance so we took advantage of their presence - and who would turn down a chance to hold their new handsome grandson anyway!? - These moments are the ones to cherish, new and not-so-new life, coming together. Little bits of grandma here and little bits of grandpa there.. Its pretty cool to see all of these amazing people literally become one!

(I have never seen grandparents just so consumed by a little baby - This folks, is love.)

Newborns are chaos, pure craziness I tell ya... but nonetheless, sweet little things that change ever so quickly! (I mean literally, Teal is already 5 months old!!😭😭) So I want to help you hold those moments you really don't think about until they're gone, close. Those features that will be so different in just a few days, those high-strung emotions that will collect themselves within a short bit of time, and that newness (a mixture of overwhelming love and stress, ya know, they call it "parenthood"). So we started with some cuddles with mommy, hanging out with dad in the nursery, and even some alone time on mom & dads bed (shh, don't tell!)

As a parent, the scariest thing is time.. It really just flies past you like a freakin' jet.. never stopping, no pause, not even a 'slower traffic keep right' sign (as if anyone would listen to it anyway)!! So I go into lifestyle newborn sessions with that in mind, I'm going to catch what will change, I'm going to catch what will be gone too soon, I'm going to catch what will already be so different by tomorrow, so even if we can't hold onto them forever, we can hold on to the moment forever.
